Bear Branch Horse Resort is centrally located in the beautiful 280,000-acre Shawnee National Forest just above Lusk Creek Canyon.
Burden Falls Wilderness is located in Pope County. The Wilderness is located adjacent to Bay Creek Wilderness and is in a stone’s throw of Bell Smith Springs Recreation Area.
We also offer convenience! There’s a turn-around drive, space for your trailer, plenty of room/pasture, wash bay, automatic waterers, large clean stalls(16′ x 16′) with turnouts and a small picnic area for the family.
The perfect setting for family outings, 4-H Boy and Girl Scout events, bonfires, horse camps, western theme adult and children’s parties and trail rides.
Chain O’Lakes has four trail systems. The Nature’s Way hiking trail starts at Oak Grove Picnic Area and is 2 ¼ miles in length. The Pike Marsh North Picnic Area has an accessible trail that is ¼ mile long. The park also contains an equestrian trail with three loops and a total length of 8 miles.
A ten mile equestrian/hiking/cross-county ski trail is located on the north side of the lake east of the Parnell Access Area. Horse trailer parking is provided at the Parnell Access Area where a wheelchair ramp for mounting horses is available. All equestrian trails are closed to bicycles year round, and the trail is closed to horses from Oct. 1 to the end of archery deer season.
